Internships are unpaid and a great way to gain valuable hands-on experience in writing, editing, promotions, sales, and events management.
Editorial Internship
Want to get your hands dirty in the editorial process of putting out
an internationally circulated magazine and website? Venus Zine's edit internship is best suited for candidates who are organized, eager to learn, and who hope to work
as
editors or writers. Prior experience with copy-editing, fact-checking,
and
writing is a plus. Please send cover letter, resume, and three writing
samples
to Jill Russell at jill [at] venuszine.com. Deadlines for editorial internship applications are as follows: Spring (Jan thru Apr/May): November 15; Summer (May/June thru Aug) April 1; Fall (Sept thru Nov/Dec) July 15.
Events Internship
Interested in learning more about the business side of magazine

you're a whiz at coordinating events, dealing with the public,
research, and
basic data entry get in touch with Selena Fragassi at selena [at]
venuszine.com. Please submit your resume and
cover letter. Applicants must be Web savvy, knowledgeable of Excel,
and
comfortable talking on the phone and in public.
Design & Photography Internship
Do you know the difference between Helvetica and Futura? Can you color
correct
like no other? Interested in both print and Web design? If so, send
your
resume, cover letter, and samples of your work to Art Director Denise
Gibson at
denise [at] venuszine.com. Successful
candidates must have strong design and typography skills. Must be able

quickly, thrive under pressure, and take art direction well. Must be
highly
skilled at InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator. Web experience

Fashion Internship
Do you shamelessly stalk fashion blogs and magazines for runway looks and inspiration? Pride yourself on discovering the latest Etsy boutique or new designer? Venus Zine's fashion internship is best suited for candidates looking to get hands-on experience in fashion editorial for both print and web. Fashion interns will assist on photo shoots and with sample returns and requests, compile credit information and look books, research, and organize PR contacts. Please send cover letter, resume, three writing samples and/or a link to your blog to Andrea Kasprzak at andreak [at] venuszine.com
Advertising and Marketing Internship
If you can't just take the first no you get as an answer, and love being creative about working with sponsors and advertisers, this is the internship for you. Advertising and Marketing Interns help identify cool companies that should advertise in Venus Zine. They send out media kits, make phone calls to the client companies, and assist in overall marketing strategy and execution. Please send cover letter, resume, and any past successes to Sarah Beardsley at sarah [at] venuszine.com
Venus Zine Street Teams
We are looking for tastemakers and Venus lovers in all the major urban markets in which Venus Zine is distributed and read. As a Venus Zine Street Team member, you'll represent Venus Zine at events where we are promoting the magazine. You will look for Venus Zine on newsstands and let us know if the stores are running low. And, if you come across great venues, stores, or people that we should be covering online and in print, you are our official Scout. Please send a resume and cover letter to Sarah Beardsley at sarah [at] venuszine.com.
