When we heard Karen Elson was coming through town, we were the first to sign up to capture the supermodel-turned-singer live in concert. (Photos by Mary Schmitt)

Elson recently released her album The Ghost Who Walks on husband Jack White's Third Man Records label with songs that range from '20s gypsy carnival odes to folk ballad gems, all of which were debuted at Chicago's Lincoln Hall with a full band in tow.

Elson's smoky voice is no matter of happenstance, though—she was actually a singer before ever signing up to be a model. Whether on the runway or behind her guitar, Elson proved she can make any place her stage.

Check out all our photos above, and read about Karen Elson, Jack White, and Third Man Records in the summer issue of Venus Zine, out now!
