Laura Marie Braun Loves Vintage Vogue Patterns

Before Mad Men prompted a frenzy of vintage-inspired layouts in just about every publication known to man, I can proudly say that I was already stitching out dresses the ladies of Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce would have pulled at each others' bouffants for—and I owe it all to Vogue's line of vintage patterns.

Complete with gorgeous design sketches on the front of each package, Vintage Vogue offers nearly 30 patterns from their fabulous archives. Spanning decades from the '30s to the '60s, these patterns give me the retro fix I so desperately need from time to time. As someone with a fixation on vintage clothing, and with a conflicting bank account, I love sitting down at my sewing machine and cranking out these distinctive and personal looks.

Scouring thrift stores for wool pencil skirts can be fun, but rarely do I come out with a bunch of perfect finds. Either the size is off, there's an unsavory stain, or the fabric just isn't ideal. Vintage Vogue allows me to skip those pungent racks and pick out perfect textiles that I can guarantee will be tailored just for me.

These fearless styles are perfect for special occasions or living out your secret June Cleaver dreams (check out their sweet apron pattern). So, bust out those pearls and kitten heels—and happy crafting!
