Andrea Kasprzak Loves Amazing Grass Green Super Food

I am obsessed with weird health food fads. I became BFF with the "juice master" at an awkward holistic grocer over Sambazon smoothies and fantasize about having kombucha on tap in my apartment. (Best hangover cure, ever. I learn from the experts: Lindsay Lohan loves it.) And I once spent three months living and writing on an island where newspaper ads for colonics were more commonplace than street lights.

Naturally, I discovered Amazing Grass a few years back. It was love at first nutritional label sight. My then-roommate and I spotted the vividly hued packaging from an in-store display, scanned the ingredients, and the rest was history. Packed full of super foods, greens, and other really good for you stuff, we were so hooked we even tried mixing the powder into our iced coffees. Not advised. It was much better stirred into vanilla soy or almond milk. I could not get enough.

But, being the fickle heath foodie that I am, I eventually lost interest and moved onto new fads like vitamin muffins and gummy candies that claimed to clear up your complexion. Until recently, I'd almost forgotten about Amazing Grass completely. And then, on a routine Whole Foods jaunt, there it was, beckoning from the vitamin section like an old lover.

How good can a wheat grass and broccoli-based cocktail really taste? You'd be surprised. I like the chocolate flavor, blended with organic cacao, redwood cocoa, and dutch cocoa, because it actually tastes deceptively dessert-y. I've swayed many a skeptic, their reactions quickly turning from "Are you drinking pond scum?" to (after a sip), "Wow, this is chocolate magic!" Since becoming re-addicted my complexion is glowing and I have bounds of energy. Trust me, it really is amazing. After a few weeks of regular consumption, you will feel like doing cartwheels in the park and have the skin and vigor of a six-year-old on the last day of school.
