Kelley Hecker loves her Arrested Development DVDs

Is it sad that I still remember the day Arrested Development came to an end? It was a Friday in February when Fox slapped the final four episodes together and aired them against the opening ceremonies of the 2006 Winter Olympics, guaranteeing that the only people who would tune in to bid the Bluth family farewell were diehard fans. When Jason Bateman's Michael Bluth gave his speech in the final minutes, I cried. Hell, I had tears trickling down my face for most of the two hours.

You'd think that four years later, I'd be over AD's cancellation, but no, I'm still bitter. Fox canned it only to settle on the "comedy" 'til Death starring that turd Brad Garrett and three shows by Seth MacFarlane, which, as we all know, are written by manatees.

Thank god for the DVDs! I've watched each season countless times over the years, yet I still often discover jokes I missed before. AD is not just one of the best television comedies ever, it's the best. It's smart and hilarious, with wonderful narration by Ron Howard and an absolutely perfect cast. No one, not even minor characters like White Power Bill, could have been played better by any other actors.

A small sampling of the awesomeness AD has given us: "Steve Holt!," Franklin Delano Bluth, "Her?," Tobias Fünke - Analrapist, "Army had half-a-day," a magician named GOB, Mr. Bananagrabber, Carl Weathers, "Baby, you got a stew goin'!," Mrs. Featherbottom, "Marry me!," the Cornballer, and the Blue Man Group: "I'm afraid I just blue myself."

As we wait patiently and hopefully for the forthcoming movie, I'll leave you with a video that makes my heart smile.
