Brooklyn’s Telepathe (pronounced Tel-uh-pathy) has been lighting up stages in their home borough and beyond for several years with a hypnotic sound that is simultaneously drony and dancy. Anchored by duo Melissa Livaudais and Busy Ganges, and supported by a rotating cast of musicians, the band brings an attention-grabbing, trance-like groove to their live performances, thanks to layers of synth and effects. Telepathe has set the indie press ablaze for several years, and solidifies their mark with the recent release of the Dave Sitek–produced album Dance Mother (IAMSOUND) that has caught the attention of the mainstream, though they don’t always know what to make of the band’s avant-pop sensibilities. Catch their All Points West set and understand what the buzz is all about.
Telepathe performs at 3:10 p.m. at the Bullet Stage.
