Christine Bejasa loves This American Life

In journalism school, you learn how to tell stories. When I was in journalism school, I wanted to learn how to tell stories like Ira Glass, the host of This American Life, a radio (and now TV) program presented by Chicago Public Radio. Each episode features true stories based around a basic theme — often dealing with things as broad and as simple as love, luck, or forgiveness.

I usually listen to This American Life in its podcast form, but if I'm in the car on a Saturday afternoon, there's nothing I love more than cranking up the radio to listen to Glass' nasally drawl regaling tales of the intricacies of everyday people. The stories are told so simply through the voices of Glass and the characters themselves, and at the end, there's always a twist of fate or misfortune that tugs at your heart.

Listen to hundreds of episodes of This American Life, and donate some money to keep the podcast free.
