Bad days, we've all had them. Of course the frequency and intensity of these scandalous and malicious 24-hour periods varies from person to person. But it is a sure bet that you have had quite a few over the course of your life. If you haven't, you are thus far lucky. However, your day will come.
A glance at FmyLife.com is a glimpse into the worst day of everyone's life. Instead of operating as a self-pity site, FML is a tongue-in-cheek exploration into a shared human experience – we all screw up, ruin treasures of material worth, get slammed by our friends or the opposite sex. And we all need a place to vent.
Launched weeks after its French language predecessor, VieDeMerde.fr, FML has fast become an Internet phenomenon attracting huge traffic and often becoming overloaded with stories of hilarious dread. There are even apps for the iPhone that allow folks to read anecdotes even when not near their computer – they may not post on FML using the app though.
As an added bonus, users are asked to determine whether the storyteller's “life is f*****” or whether they “deserved that one.” More often than not, sympathy wins the day and people whose day spiraled out of control can be comforted knowing that others feel for them in some strange way. The funniest posts come from people who have taken it upon themselves to instigate a massive blunder.
Unrequited love, check. Run-ins with the cops, check. Being male and dancing naked to Kelly Clarkson without knowing your metal-head friends are downstairs, oh goodness yes.
You can read all 200+ pages of anecdotes at http://www.fmylife.com
