Sultansmarket

Alysse Dalessandro loves Sultan’s Market

Sultan’s Market claims to have the best falafel in town. . . just look at the cheesy advertisements along benches in Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood. Cheesy or not, the falafel can’t be beat and I consider myself a sort-of falafel connoisseur even though it is certainly not the healthiest of snacks.  While in Europe, I planned a trip to Greece and falafel was a big motivation behind me heading to Athens. Well I come to find out that falafel is Middle Eastern and not Mediterranean, but the point is: despite this minor mistake, I’m dedicated.

The falafel sandwich at Sultan’s Market comes in a warm pita with hummus and what they call “Jerusalem Salad.”  You can get it in mild, medium, or spicy.  It has good texture and flavor and you don’t have to fly to Greece, I mean, the Middle East to get it.
