Last week I finally gave my former college hall-mate a tour of the little coach house I call home in Chicago. He lives in New Jersey. The next evening, I got to show my best friend from high school how great my bangs look pinned back. She lives in Seattle. Oh, the wonders of Gmail may never cease! Now you can video chat with your friends in faraway places, and with a portable laptop in your hands it's almost like they're right there — following you around the house!
